My dad, the Service Dog Trainer and what I’ve learned growing up with Service Dogs

Having observed my father’s business, Canines 4 Hope, for so many years, words cannot explain how proud I am to be a part of this corporation. Growing up as a small child amongst these service dogs, one at that age cannot really understand the immense importance a service dog provides in the lives of those affected. But at the age of 16 now, and with my dad’s business now flourished into a facility where each service dog can get their own individual and personal care, I can truly see the major role our family service dog business plays amongst our peers in our ever changing and growing society. I’ve seen these animals provide more than just a pet that is obedient to you, a service dog provides one of the utmost privilege of having a best friend ready to comfort you at all times, through the highest of mountains and the lowest of valleys. Anywhere you go these dogs will be there to guide you, comfort you, and having seen the most severe of my father’s cases, and the trauma some of his clients have been through, seeing successful case, and getting the response from our clients letting us know that their dog has changed their lives for the better, warms my entire family’s hearts. After working with a case involving a client who has experienced the worst possible seizures from epilepsy, and hearing that after just a week of having their service dog in their home, that their dog had alerted to a life threatening seizure, is what all the hard work , all the dedication, and the adversity, and all the blood sweat and tears poured into my family’s business pays off to be. At the age of 7, seeing the cute fluffy service dog being trained right out of my garage did not invoke an afterthought, but “how cute”.  Now after seeing these service dogs, and working with them personally one on one, I fully understand and grasp the concept that this very dog is what is going to change the lives of an entire family, and relieve them of pain, and problems that they have so dreadfully subdued in the past. So yes, after my father got injured in a car accident he lost his old golf career, but from this injury sparked a business that would not only benefit our lives, but has benefited and is continuing to benefit the lives of our peers in need around us, and that is what myself and my entire family are truly proud to be apart of.
